“Progressive Woman was created to bring attention to the struggle, determination, and optimism of pioneering women to make changes in a male dominated world. It represents women’s achievements of the last century. This piece is a victorian era woman in a modern abstract form to demonstrate old , out-dated thinking verse modern thinking.
This sculpture was formed by four stainless steel wedges all intersecting at the center. Although it is broken into sections and reduced o it’s essentials, it gives the viewer a clear image of the female figure.One can experience emotion and movement of the piece through her body language when experiencing it from various angles. The opening through the head represents two points of view: women’s past and a focus on an encouraging future.”

The piece will be installed within a landscape of multi-seasonal beauty with an accessible path for all to enjoy.

The proposed location for the new artwork will be the triangular green space next to the Save-A-Lot grocery store at the corner of Prospect and Marietta. This high profile location is the “heart” of the Heights and a possible proposed location for a Greenway Trailhead.

Tentatively, the unveiling date is scheduled for September 17th.
